RUTH MORAWETZ, a multi-talented pianist experienced in opera, classical music and musical theatre repertoire, is pleased to present CANADIAN CABARET.

  • collaborative pianist, world premiere of Violin Sonata, by Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
  • senior accompanist & coach, Banff Centre: music theatre, opera, ballet divisions.
  • lecturer in accompanying, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.

Founding Artistic Director, CLASSICAL CABARET  Concert Series1980––1996.

  • a platform of national significance for emerging musicians and established artists, including: Ben Heppner, Adrianne Pieczonka, Louise Pitre, Francis Ginzer, Karen Kain, etc.
  • negotiated the commissioning of more than a dozen new Canadian works for classical music,  music theatre and dance.
  • showcased over 250 artists in venues throughout Toronto and on tour, including: EXPO’86, Shaw Festival, Elora Three Centuries Festival, Quinte Summer Music, Opera Lyra, Huntsville Festival of the Arts and various remote regions of Ontario

Ruth Morawetz has made a significant contribution to Canada’s cultural life by giving a platform to so many outstanding Canadian singers, many of whom went on to international careers, focusing her talents on volunteering and sharing her expertise on various Arts Boards.
