ST. LOUIS
The most stellar performance comes from Gerald Isaac, a tenor whose voice coloration alone makes his portrayal of the Learned Judge a hoot.
MONTREAL
…….Gerald Isaac (a former National Theatre School graduate who has become one of Canada’s most explosive and versatile comics with performing skills to burn)
TORONTO
Of the three nominal stars of the show, the greatest impression was made by Gerald Isaac, one of the more enthusiastic troupers in the entire realm of entertainment. I was aware of this diminutive dynamo’s vocal ability, of course, through many performances with the Canadian Opera Company. This surprise was his dancing, executed like everything else he does, with élan.
TULSA
………but it was Gerald Isaac as Njegus who stole the show. Isaac owns an intoxicating sense of rhythm and comedic timing that rivals Canny Kaye. His dancing and gymnastic capers captivated the crowd, and his vocal characterization was choice.
SAN FRANCISCO
But it is actor Gerald Isaac, also making his debut, in the strenuous role of Njegus, an embassy secretary, who stops the show. He is all over the stage – singing, dancing and promoting the high jinx involved in the plot
